YA Friday Summer Roundup

Ah summer. Those beautiful months of sleeping in and eating waffle/frozen-yogurt sandwiches for breakfast. I've actually been pretty busy this summer, but I've managed to get some good reading time in. Here are some of the books I've been reading this summer:

Books that are being made into movies:

I've already read Papertowns, but I recently re-read it in anticipation of the movie being released (I also persuaded both of my parents to read it, and they loved it just as much I do). I've started reading Me, Earl, and the Dying Girl in hopes that I'll be able to catch the movie adaptation before I head back to school. I'm a pretty big fan of the Sherlock Holmes mysteries (and of the BBC show Sherlock), and I can't wait to see Mr. Holmes in theaters soon. I've re-read some of the longer stories from my complete collection of Sherlock Holmes (A Study in Scarlet, The Sign of Four, and some of the short stories as well).

Book haul from ALA

I'm slowly working through this massive stack of books I received from the ALA Annual Conference in June. Below, some of the books I was most excited to receive: The Healer's Apprentice, A Girl Undone, Silver in the Blood, Six of Crows, The Chess Queen Enigma, Soundless, and Salt to the Sea.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy

The Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy is a fantastic book series, great for fans of high fantasy. I only recently acquired the third book (Dreams of Gods and Monsters), though, so I'm re-reading the entire series (since I have the time).

Grisha Trilogy

I'm rereading the Grisha trilogy to prepare for Leigh Bardugo's newest book, Six of Crows, which takes place in the same universe (also one of the books in my favorites pile from ALA). I was lucky enough to receive a copy of Six of Crows at ALA (after waiting in line for about an hour), and I'm very excited to read it!

The Lunar Chronicles

I know that Winter doesn't come out until November, but I'm still going to re-read all of the Lunar Chronicles now in preparation for its release (and because they're just fantastic books).

All of the books I've reviewed thus far (Daughter of Deep Silence, Avalon RisingSpelled, Palace of Lies, and A Girl Undone) I've also read this summer - you can check out my reviews for more info. I hope you've all had a great summer filled with lots of books!
