It's Monday! What are you reading? From Picture Books to YA (39)

It's Monday! What are you reading? is hosted by Sheila of Book Journey. Jen & Kellee from Teach Mentor Texts have adapted this to focus on Picture Books to Young Adult Books.

Lately, my reading has been chapters in professional textbooks, articles, and a sundry of miscellaneous stuff.  I am just going with the flow knowing that I will settle back into a good groove shortly.

Here are some of the things that jumped out over the past two (yes 2) weeks:

Oh, No! by Candace Fleming; Illustrated by Eric Rohmann - There is something quite common but yet very unique about this book.  Love the twist at the end.

Bear Has a Story to Tell by Philip C. Stead; Illustrated by Erin Stead - Beautiful story with beautiful illustrations.

Here is the official book trailer:

The Girl in Red by Aaron Frisch; Illustrated by Roberto Innocenti - A very different version of Little Red Riding Hood.  More urban in feel and one which teachers with older students can spend time exploring the idea of visual literacy and how text and words work to communicate a message that may each be a bit different.

Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys- This has been on my to read list for a long time.  A very powerful and emotional story which needs to be told.

So what are you reading this week?
