Nonfiction Picture Book Challenge: Women's History Month Continues

A few years ago, I started featuring books about strong women each week during March to celebrate Women’s History Month. I have loved seeing how many new biographies are coming out each year. Check out last week’s celebration of women, here. One of the things that all of these women have in common is a passionate pursuit of their dreams.

Here are two more books that will be released in the near future.

When Sue Found Sue: Sue Hendrickson Discovers Her T. Rex by Toni Buzzeo, Illustrated by Diana Sudyka (Abrams Books for Young Readers, May 14, 2019)

In the summer of 1990, Sue Hendrickson discovered the skeleton of a T. Rex in South Dakota. Buzzeo gives readers a sense of how young Sue Hendrickson’s love for searching for hidden things eventually led to her finding one of the most complete T. Rex skeletons. Imagine what an amazing discovery she made.

Sisters: Venus & Serena Williams by Jeanette Winters (Beach Lane Books, April 2, 2019)

Winters is well known for the number of biographies she has written for very young readers. Her latest is about Venus & Serena Williams. Though not heavy with lots of details, Winters provides a nice introduction for young students.

Mark your calendar for when these books will be release or pre-order them through your local indie bookstore.
