Take Me Out to the Ball Game - Books on Baseball

Last week, I was hanging out at Vroman's and noticed that they had a display for children's books featuring baseball.  Either I like baseball and I am more attune to the number of books featuring America's favorite past time, or there are simply more children's books on baseball than any other sport.  Regardless, I decided I needed to share some of the new releases and some old favorites that you might want to check out.  If you are looking to increase your collection of baseball related titles, there is something here for everyone.

  1. What a great selection! I certainly did not realize there were so many from which to choose. My favorites are Who's on First? and Players in Pigtails.

    1. I like the variety of the list. And of course there are more but this can get you started.

  2. I'm not a huge baseball fan but I enjoy baseball in books! Some non-picture books that come to mind for me are Shakespeare Bats Cleanup by Ron Koertge and Heat by Mike Lupica.

    1. Jen - I read the Koertge book but guess I forgot to include it. Haven't read the book by Lupica.

  3. What a terrific list. Thank you! Another favorite of mine: You Never Heard of Sandy Koufax? by Jonah Winter and Andre Carrilho.

    1. I will have to check that one out. Thanks for sharing

  4. Can't wait to read ABC"s of baseball. Golenbeck wrote Teammates, my favorite baseball book about Jackie Robinson and my favorite team. H is for Homerun, Allstar, and Just Like Josh Gibson are also good ones.

    Chickadee Jubilee

  5. I have read only two of the ones on your list. Lots of fantastic looking books on the list. I plan to pick up Something to Prove next! It looks great. Thanks for sharing. :)
