I had one of those weeks where despite reading quite a few books very few seriously jumped out at me. As a result, I am only sharing two things. I am looking forward to a better reading week.
Here are my favorites from my the past week's reading adventures:
Amulet Vol. 5: Prince of the Elves by Kazu Kibuishi - The fifth installment in Kibuishi's popular (and I mean popular) graphic novel series comes out on September 1st. I can't wait to hold the final copy in my hands. It was great to read an Advance Readers Copy but I love the color illustrations in the final version. Readers of the series will love the new volume.
BabyLit Board Books by Jennifer Adams; Illustrated by Alison Oliver - Classic literature gets a make over in the form of baby board books and early concepts such as counting and colors. Fun series to read and share.
So, what are you reading this week?

I saw the BabyLit Board Books at Barnes and Noble earlier this week and I was intrigued- I am glad to hear that they are done well.
ReplyDeleteI, too, loved Amulet 5- I finally read the whole series and they are done so well!!
Happy reading this week! :)
Kellee- I just wished that the Babylit Board Books weren't just predominately counting books but it is a cute series.
DeleteI received an ARC of Freaks Like Us and just started it. The book is due out in September. It's too soon to judge. It has a heavier plot told from the viewpoint of a child who is schizophrenic.
ReplyDeleteIt is on my list to read. Keep me posted on what you think.
DeleteThose Babylit board books look so cute! Seem more geared towards parents than kiddos in a sense, but still look fun. Definitely eye-catching. I actually have the first Amulet book to read...I've never read any in the series. It looks like what I would call a "hard" graphic novel/comic book so I've been scared to read it!
ReplyDeleteJen - I do think that the Babylit Board books is a bit more for parents than baby but still....very cute. And Amulet is wonderful. The first one is just getting started but keep with them. The illustrations are breath-takingly gorgeous and I love the story. And Kazu himself is so nice.
DeleteI didn't know there was a BabyLit Board Book of Dracula! Need to seek that one out. I loved the Alice in Wonderland one.
ReplyDeletethe Dracula one is so cute. I didn't realize they had so many but there was a display of them this week. :-)
DeleteI'm about 60% through Freaks Like Us. It's a page turner, but not a cheery book at all.
DeleteLove the idea of BabyLit Board books! Nice way to expose the little ones to some great classics early. ;)
ReplyDeleteHad never heard of the BabyLit Board books. They look so adorable! I must seek them out.
