It's Monday! What are you reading? is hosted by Sheila of Book Journey. Jen & Kellee from
Teach Mentor Texts have adapted this to focus on Picture Books to Young Adult Books.
Each week I'll recap what I've read/reviewed the week before
and then look ahead to what I am planning on reading/reviewing in the upcoming week.
Last week's book adventures:
During the second week of my winter break, I tried to get as much reading in as possible. I managed to squeeze in nearly 50 books.
Here are three novels that I finally read. They have been getting tons of buzz and after reading them I can see why. All are excellent books in very different ways.
After reading three fairly serious books, I needed to take a break. Here is an early chapter book that was a lot of fun to read:
And here are several picture books that I really enjoyed:
Upcoming book adventures:
My goal this week is to find non-fiction books that have been released in the first two weeks of 2012. Check in on Wednesday to see what one's I have found.
So, what are you reading this week?
Please share! And remember to check in at Sheila's or Jen & Kellee's blog to see what they and others are reading!

Wow: The Friendship Doll, Okay for Now, and Ghetto Cowboy in one week. What a great reading week! The Friendship Doll is amazing.
ReplyDeleteColby - It was a fantastic reading week. And yes, the Friendship Doll is amazing.
ReplyDelete"Okay For Now" was a book my sixth grade boys really loved (as did I!). I have "The Friendship Doll" on my reading list...I've heard great things about it through my kids.
ReplyDeleteI love the covers of children's books! All your book posts look so good. I've never heard of Ghetto Cowboy, but, judging by its cover, it looks like a good one! Have a great week! :)
ReplyDeleteBooking It with Runner Sami
The Friendship Doll was so good and then it hit me off guard when it got great at the end. I loved it. I love Okay For Now, too. :) Lots of good picture books, too! :)
ReplyDeleteJen - The Friendship Doll nearly made me sob. And there were so many good picture books this past week but I couldn't include 50 of them. :-)
ReplyDeleteTara - Bump The Friendship Doll up.
Runnersami - Ghetto Cowboy was excellent and I learned about the cowboys of North Philly.
Wow Great list!
ReplyDeleteA great new book that is coming out tomorrow (I think) is called George Washington's Birthday. It isn't exactly non-fiction, but has both fiction and non-fiction elements worked in together - a bit like Magic Schoolbus but with a great story and lovely illustrations. I'm posting a review later this week over on childrenslit crossroads.
Children's Lit Crossroads - I read an advanced copy of George Washington's Birthday: A Mostly True Tale months ago. It was a lot of fun - the mix of truth and myth/fiction. Thanks for reminding me about it.
ReplyDeleteHey! This week I'm reading May B, Cinder, Glow and Tempest.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading to you!
